Student Wellbeing

We have come to the end of another year and I would like to say thank you to the whole school community - students, staff and parents for such a wonderful year. You have come together in such a caring and positive way to support each other in the good times and those challenging times.

It is wonderful to be part of such an inclusive and warm hearted community.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Yr. 6  Student Wellbeing Leaders, Gwyn and Tadgh for their outstanding year as Leaders.   They commenced the year full of enthusiasm and have concluded equally as enthusiastic.

Both Gwyn and Tadgh have availed themselves to any tasks asked of them and have grown in their confidence in speaking to teachers and the students about any new initiatives they wished to explore. Throughout the year, they confidently presented their ideas to the SRC Group, the teachers at the Student Wellbeing Team Meetings and the members of the Leadership Team. They have arrived early to school to attend meetings and stayed after school to help with the selling of yo-yos. They regularly replenished the First Aid bags, to ensure there were plenty of band aides, tissues, swabs etc. available to use for playground injuries.

We were fortunate to receive a $1000 donation from the Port Melbourne Rotary Club to put towards some Wellbeing resources, so one of the main projects they had to investigate was the introduction of Friendship Benches to our school yard. Both Gwyn and Tadgh put together a questionnaire and survey to ask students and staff their opinion on the value of Friendship Benches and after many months of work, the decision was made to go ahead with the project.

Once again, they investigated the best product, found time to paint the benches bright colours and have had them installed in the most appropriate areas. They also spoke at an assembly to the community about the value of Friendship Benches in school grounds.

Congratulations to them both and we wish them every success in the coming years at their chosen Secondary School and beyond.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and an exciting 2018.

Enjoy your well earned break and travel safely.

Dear parents/carers,

Once again, we have entered into an agreement with Cabrini Malvern’s Emergency Department to provide any student from Galilee Regional Catholic Primary School a discounted rate of $205 (8 am-8 pm weekdays) and $240 (8 pm-8 am weekdays and weekends).

The discount of 50% applies to the attendance fee only and would not include any further out of pocket expenses such as X-rays and blood tests.

If the student needs to be admitted, however, they will require private health cover.

The student or their carers can simply mention that they are from Galilee to be eligible for this discount. All participating schools will be listed at reception.

This agreement is in place until 31 December 2018.

If you require any further information please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Julianne Price
