Alba Galban- Stephanie Alexander Garden Specialist
Welcome back to Term 4! Our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden is growing like crazy with the sunshine and rain we have been having. We are starting to harvest broad beans, snow peas, and greens (spinach, silver beat and lettuce). Students have returned to the garden and we are starting to clean up getting ready to plant our summer crop of tomato, eggplant, chilies, and lettuce. It is very exciting when the seasons are changing, students experience how different plants grow better in different weather conditions. In our SAKG shed, we have had three blocks of portobello’s and buttons donated by Gippsland Mushroom. They sell their mushrooms at Mulgrave Farmers Market. We will be using these mushrooms in the kitchen this week and for the following 3 weeks.
A special thank you to the Inglis and Pritchard Family who collected the eggs and checked on our chickens over the holidays.
