KALEIDOSCOPES by 5/6R, W and H
The students are learning about rotational symmetry by learning to cut mirror and construct a kaleidoscope. This is a skill that can be transferred to cutting glass also. See the Kingswood Visual Arts website for the instructional video produced by our year 5/6 students.

SLUMPED GLASS BOTTLES by 5/6M, S and B
These bottles have been flattened inside a kiln and have provided a different experience for the students to work on. They experimented with geometric (maths) shapes versus freeform/organic (nature) shapes to create their abstract design. An abstract design is made up of the three elements of line shape and colour. The results have been quite stunning!

Insights from my time in Art
Some insights from the Year Six students who are completing their last term of schooling at Kingswood Primary School.
Visual Arts for 7 years has been an amazing experience, learning new and awesome things and I’m sad to say goodbye to Kingswood. Over the past 7 years we’ve had amazing teachers and I’ve learnt a lot. John 56M
I’ve enjoyed every year of art, learning all new techniques, FAILING but trying again. I love the creativeness in art, we get to have adventures. I will take my heart of art to High School. Tanvi 56R
Art is my favourite subject and it has meant a lot to me. It has been very fun and I have learnt a lot of things like how to weave paper and how to sculpt clay. Kaden 56W
Art is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to make. Daniel 56B
Art has been a way to escape and let out your thoughts and feelings to something with a pretty outcome. You can show your thoughts with colour, patterns etc. Hannah 56H
