SKiPPS Parent Gala Evening

What a Blast!

Thanks to all of you who were able to attend and for going to an extraordinary effort on Saturday night to really get into the theme of the annual School Trivia night. The costumes were out of this world (sorry, couldn't resist). It was great that this event was well supported by so many, in particular our new Foundation families who I'm sure we can count on for at least the next 6 trivia nights.

This event is a very important one on the school social calendar and it is a major fundraising event with all the proceeds going towards the purchase of classroom library books. While we are still in the process of calculating the final proceeds, I am confident that your generosity will be impressive.

Big events such as the trivia night result from the tireless efforts and meticulous planning by a small army - the Fundraising Committee.

There are a few particular thank-yous that we need to make;

  •  The wonderful parents band 'Parental as Anything' for their space-themed entertainment all through the evening. The band keep getting better and better and it is sad that so many parents will be moving on soon as their children have graduated (or will leave us this year). Any musical parents keen to get involved should email Simon at simechaty@hotmail.com
  • The trivia host Lindsay for keeping order In a room of 180 people - every teachers nightmare!
  • Anna and Nick Rowe for donating the delicious warm pizzas we enjoyed during the night
  • Sasha Goldsmith for organising the drinks and setting up the bar - including spending all day Saturday at school and the town hall for an event he couldn't attend.
  • The parents who volunteered time packing the van at school, setting up at the town hall and during the evening.
  • Most of all to Rachael O'Connor and Chrissy Manonian for coordinating and ensuring every detail was thought of and attended to, to ensure all in attendance had a great night. Our hearts go out to Chrissy who spent tens of hours on the event but couldn't attend due to a last-minute positive covid test. This event has not been held for the last two years and it was great to have it back on the school social calendar for 2022.

Special thanks to our wonderful principal Neil who is at every event from the start to the finish- first to arrive to set up and last to leave after clean up  - your dedication does not go unnoticed.
