A message from the (Acting) Principal

As Neil is away for the next 5 weeks enjoying a very well deserved holiday I will take this opportunity to thank the many parents&carers, students and staff for their support last Tuesday in the protest to the proposed toilet block outside the school. It was wonderful to read the very clever and amusing signs erected on the temporary fencing- kids can always be relied on to be funny and creative when the subject matter is toilet humour and poo!

To have so many members of  our school community rally together in the freezing cold for such an important cause was remarkable.  Watching the Channel Nine news that evening I was filled with pride to hear both Neil and our hard working parents share their concerns regarding this proposed development. This action also sends a message to our young kids that putting  in the extra effort to stand up for your beliefs is always worthwhile - no matter the outcome. You will have noticed that the signage and temporary fencing has been removed  however I understand that this is not an indication that the council have rescinded their decision. The petition closed last Sunday June 5th and I sincerely thank all the school community members who signed this- hopefully  this does not go unnoticed by the Council. The next course of action is the council meeting next Wednesday June 15th at 6.30pm at Council Chambers and I urge you to attend in person to voice your concerns. The more school community members we have present at this meeting the better!

Term 2 is flying by and school staff have been busy working on completing students reports which will be uploaded on Thursday June 23rd.  A reminder that next Monday is a public holiday and Tuesday the 14th June is a school wide Curriculum day  where staff will be working with DET educators undergoing professional development on Respectful Relationships. Please note that there will be no school on this day - Team Kids will be operating a full day program if you require child care.

Enjoy your week and the forthcoming long weekend- stay safe and stay warm.
