Principal's Notes

Term 2 Week 8

Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome to this week's newsletter and I hope it finds you well and that all families enjoyed the long weekend. This past week has been a busy week in very cold, wet and wintery conditions. The students are to be congratulated on the way they have dealt with the wet conditions. We closely keep an eye on the weather and where possible we try to get the students out for a play at break times.

We are now officially on the countdown to the holidays. All students and staff are looking forward to having a good rest and a chance to get over all the coughs and colds going around. Thank you to all the families for contacting the school when their child is absent in the mornings as we then don't have to try and contact families during the day. Teachers are required to report on and maintain records of all student absences. We are still having lots of students absent each day due to ill-health.

Lions Club Paper Loading

Please support the Cavendish Lions Club paper loading on this Sunday 19th at 10am, if you are available. The school receives financial donations each year from the Lions Club and the money raised from the paper loading will go back into helping our school and our community.

Senior Camp

With the senior camp originally being booked for Wednesday 9th to Friday 11th November this impacted the school's participation in the Fleece and Flower Show on Friday 11th. We have thankfully been able to change the dates to Monday 7th to Wednesday 9th November.  This will mean that the children will still be able to go to Sovereign Hill and will have Thursday and Friday to prepare for the Fleece & Flower Show.  We are very appreciative to Cave Hill Creek for accommodating the change.

End of Semester Reports

The end of semester reports are currently in the final stages of completion and will be printed off next week. Reports will be sent home on Thursday with each student in an addressed envelope.

School Council

On Wednesday night , we held our meeting at school. Thank you to all councilors who left their warm homes to come out on a wintery, cold evening. The following polices were updated to reflect the changes in Child Safe Standards effective July 1st this year: Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy, Child Safety Code of Conduct, Child Safety Risk Register, Child Safety Responding and Reporting Obligations Policy and Procedures, Student Wellbeing and Engagement, Bullying Prevention, Complaints, Volunteers, Visitors, Digital Learning, Yard Duty and Supervision, Inclusion and Diversity. The updated policies will be on the schools website for July 1st. We are still in the process of finalising plans for the stadium refurbishment. The preliminary plans from the Hydraulic Services for Fire Services and Protection were shown at the meeting and discussed.
