From the Principal

WELCOME BACK!

I hope you all enjoyed some quality family time together, whether you managed to get away on a family trip or you stayed in Melbourne to enjoy all that our wonderful city has to offer.

This term will no doubt be an enjoyable and productive one, with a great deal to look forward to.

During the holidays a number of projects were occurring:

BUILDING UPDATE

A number of jobs were undertaken during the holidays with others soon to be completed.

  • New drinking fountains – four new systems installed and they look terrific. Each system has three taps to fill water bottles and three drinking fountains.
  • Junior Playground – A large hip and ridge structure is being erected over the junior playground and, all going well, is due for completion at the end of the week.
  • Bike Shed- has now been erected near the Weeroona Rd pedestrian gate. You will notice that, while there is a solid roof covering, the sides of the shed will be  fencing mesh for visibility and safety reasons.
  • New pergola (over the merbau decking in SAKG) – with the new pergola erected, garden classes will be able to occur outside in all weather conditions. This new sheltered area makes a perfect outdoor classroom all year round.
  • Balustrade over stairwells- a beautiful timber balustrade is now in place in the upstairs open areas (outside year 4 and year 6 classrooms).

TAX DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE LIBRARY AND BUILDING FUNDS

Each year we ask families to contribute to the Building and Library Funds, as these tax-deductible contributions make a huge difference to the facilities, we can provide for our students.

Accumulated funds have allowed us to undertake a a major upgrade to modernise our library, which we know our students will enjoy on a daily basis. Thank you to the families who have made a difference to our school by making these voluntary contributions.

Contributions are welcome at any time and a receipt is provided for your tax records.

LIBRARY OPENING AND SCHOOL OPEN EVENING – Thursday 28 July

We are now thrilled to invite our school community and prospective families to view the many improvements that have been made across the school.

We invite you to attend an Open Evening on Thursday 28 July from 4:00pm to 6:00pm with the official library opening being held at 5:00pm.

Students are invited to show their families around their classroom and the school.

NEW ENROLMENTS

If you have a child commencing prep in 2023 or know of someone who hasn’t yet enrolled their child, please do so as soon as possible.

We are fortunate to have a lot of interest in our school, but we need to ensure that we are reserving enough places for our current families.

CARNIVAL TIME

When?

Saturday 20 August from 11am to 4pm but the band will continue until 5pm.

Less than six weeks to go until carnival time!

If you haven’t yet attended an MPS Carnival, then you’re in for a surprise.

Our carnival is, without doubt, the school's largest social event; one that brings the wider community together and our incredibly dedicated team of parents making up the Carnival Working Group have lined up the Nova Street Team, an array of food and beverage options, games, market stalls, free activities, raffles and of course rides galore.

Speaking of rides, tickets are now on sale to purchase a ticket for unlimited action on all of the rides all day long.

Pre-sale unlimited ride tickets are now selling at a discounted rate of only $30 (or $20 if your child is under 5 years).

Only full price tickets will be available on the day of the carnival, so get in quick and buy your discounted tickets on Try Booking today.

SCHOOL PRODUCTION

Friday 2 September

Singing, dancing, acting...... It’s all happening this term as students prepare for their first production.

The junior students are learning a range of routines for the Disney Spectacular which will be followed by an interval preceding the senior students performing Aladdin Junior.

This year the production will be held on Friday 2 September at the Robert Blackwood Hall in Monash.

Yes, it’s certainly going to be an action packed and fun-filled term.
