MID-YEAR REPORTS
Half-yearly reports will be uploaded onto the Compass portal next Tuesday 21 June after 3:30pm. The reports indicate the student’s key achievements in the various learning areas and identifies the literacy and numeracy skills where an improvement focus will continue in the second semester.
For our prep parents and any new parents to the school, you can find your child’s progress report on compass.
We’ve attached an instructional brochure for your perusal.

TERM 3 STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES
While the mid-year ‘Progress Report’ is a formalised written document, it is only a snapshot of what the student can do.
Our students will enjoy the opportunity to show parents their learning goals and the work they did to achieve them in a student led conference to be held in the final week of term 3.
In order to create student ownership over their learning, we engage students in a constant cycle of feedback and goal setting.
Here is a brief summary of what this means.
Goal Setting and Feedback:
Students work with their teachers to set personalised learning goals which arise from teacher-student conferences, where the learning task is reviewed, and the child identifies what they have achieved and what they need to work on next. We believe regular feedback has a powerful influence on student learning and growth.
We use three types of feedback:
Feed Up: what am I doing or going to learn? – this is related to the lesson’s learning intention. Teachers model what is expected and develop the criteria for success.
Feed Back: How am I going?
Students reflect on the degree to which they achieved the learning intention and which success criteria is evident in their work.
Feed Forward: Where to next?
Students work with their teachers to set their next learning goals.
PREP ENROLMENTS
The final school tour for term 2 will take place this Friday June 17 at 9:30am.
If you have a child starting school in 2023, can you please collect an enrolment pack from the office and return it at the commencement of term 3 (by Friday 15 July).
SAFETY
Parents, please remind your child/children when they are coming to school by bicycle or a scooter that they need to wear a helmet. We also ask our students to be respectful of pedestrians whilst they are sharing the footpath and remember to dismount and walk the bike or scooter when inside the schoolgrounds.
Parent drivers: We have recently had a number of near misses. Often cars are not looking for students on footpaths, especially when they cross at an intersection.
This is particularly important in Hobart Rd at the T intersections.
WARNING: Due to the two recent car crashes in our local streets after school, I have contacted the local council who will randomly patrol the school zone. Please drive responsibly for the safety of our kids.
Further to this, Glen Eira Council is intending to construct a wombat crossing (i.e. raised pedestrian ‘zebra’ crossing) at Neerim Road immediately west of Hobart Road in the 2022/23 financial year.
TAX DEDUCTIBLE PARENT CONTRIBUTIONS
Each year, parents are invited to make voluntary contributions to the school’s Building Fund and to the Library Fund.
These contributions make a huge difference to the school budget and allow us to plan for and carry out improvements, which you will see on our Open Day.
Contributions to the Building and Library Funds are fully tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.
Please feel free to phone the school to check the status of your contributions.
SNOW SPORTS
Last Wednesday, we held an information session on Webex for students and their families who are interested in snow sports and what a terrific turnout we had. Our school has now registered for the 2022 Interschool Snow Sports Competition which will be held 22 to 27 August. It’s not too late if you are interested as registrations will close on 22 July. It is important to note however, that parent participation is vital.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Lisa Rogers (one of our mums) who is our School Coordinator.
If you would like more information, please visit the Snow Sports website (below) and then if you’d like to participate, contact the school and we can put you in touch with Lisa. https://www.interschools.com.au/info-hub/about-interschools/
ASSEMBLIES
We recently invited school community feedback regarding the timing of our weekly whole school assembly.
Of the 96 responses we received, 35.4% voted to keep the assembly on a Monday and 64.6% voted to change it to a Friday.
From the beginning of term 3, our assemblies will move to Fridays, commencing at 2:50pm.
END OF TERM
Next Friday, 24 June, we will hold a casual clothes day.
Children are invited to wear casual clothes, for a gold coin donation. This will go towards State Schools' Relief, a charity that supports students in our school system with uniforms.
School will finish the term at the earlier time of 2.30 pm on Friday 24 June.
TheirCare will operate from this earlier time so if your child needs supervision please contact them to make a booking.
