We want our Parents/Caregivers/Guardians to tell us what they think!
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. A random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate in this year’s survey.
The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek. Please contact the general office if you would like further information.
'Pay it Forward'
This semester VCAL Literacy have watched the film ‘Pay it Forward’ and are now looking at some community based pay it forward initiatives. One such project is Tabitha’s Closet. They collect clothing and offer it for free to people in need throughout the Latrobe Valley.
We have already sorted a large amount of baby clothes, but they are in desperate need of clothing for teenagers and young people. We ask if you have any good quality clothes at home that you consider donating them. There will be a box for donations inside 5W121. We will be collecting clothes until the end of term.
Music News
Our music students from across the College have joined forces to entertain and delight audiences over the past fortnight. Students performed at Morwell Central, Morwell Park, Yinnar and Churchill primary schools. Each performance was met with tremendous applause as the primary school students sang and danced along. It is a fantastic opportunity to establish connections with the local community through music. The school visits are designed to provide students with the opportunity to see, try and hear a wide variety of musical instruments during engaging and fun filled performances.
Our students performed at the ‘Love Your Sister’ family fun day at the Traralgon Racecourse on Sunday 21st August. We were very grateful to be invited to perform for such a worthy cause and collaborate with local secondary schools in the area. Once again, our music students provided entertainment which was well received by the audience. The highlight of the day for many was meeting Samuel Johnson, the founder of the event.
We would like to thank our fantastic musicians on their wonderful contributions to these various community events.
