Principal's Notes

Term 2 Week 9

Dear Parents and Families,

As we come to the end of Term 2, I would like to acknowledge the efforts and work of our school community: the students, staff, carers, parents and families. We have had a wonderful term with many exciting opportunities but it has been full of changes and challenges. Each day, at school, we have been constantly facing changes of routine in our normal timetable.

Staff have kindly understood when they have their teaching and planning time changed due to both student and staff absences. We have been wonderfully supported by our band of Casual Relief Teacher's - Mrs Murray, Mrs Nettleton, Mrs Bell and Mrs McNaughton. They have all filled in for the full-time class teachers and MARC teachers at very short notice at times. We have an amazing support team that are always there to help us out.

A huge thank you to Tammy, Mrs Brabham and Miss Thompson who have organised some wonderful opportunities and experiences for the students this term - this week alone has had an AFL Clinic, 'Healthy Kids Eating' cooking and gardening session, Cows Create Careers Celebration and a Soccer Clinic. WOW!! What an amazing week.

Farewell

We farewell Nate (Year 3) and Noah (Year 5) Weilbacher today and we wish them all the very best at their new school in Hamilton.  Thanks for being part of Cavendish Primary School, you will be missed.

Student Reports

The students have received their end of semester reports on Thursday and it was a pleasure to read the positive comments and see the student growth in their progression points. It is important that students also read and reflect on their reports as the teachers have included future learning goals/areas.

Student Well-Being

Our Well-Being student focus this week has been developing a positive attitude and putting in 100% in all tasks. A positive attitude lets you relax, remember, focus and absorb information while we learn. The school has purchased 'My Wellbeing Journals' for all students next term. Each day we will begin with a short session with the classroom teachers on developing self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making.

Congratulations to Mr McLachlan (MARC Van)

We are pleased to announce that Mr McLachlan and his wife are now the proud parents of a healthy baby girl called Eden. We look forward to seeing Mr McLachlan when he returns from family leave later in Term 3. Mrs Porter will be teaching MARC while Mr McLachlan is on leave.

Sports Casual Day

We held a casual dress day today with the theme 'sports'.  Thank you to families for bringing in a gold coin donation.  We raised $89.50 for the Mooralla Golf Club to go towards their renovations.

2022 Recognition of Service Ceremony - Anne McNaughton

The 2022 Recognition of Service ceremony was held on Sunday 19 June inside the Savoy Ballroom at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. Over 200 long-serving staff from across Victoria were recognised for their dedication and loyalty of service to public education. Our own Mrs. McNaughton received a certificate for 40 years of service to Education in Victoria from the Hon. James Merlino (Minister for Education). Well done Mrs. McNaughton and a big thankful from all your past and present students and colleagues. We have held a special morning tea today to celebrate Mrs McNaughton's 40 years of service to Education.  It was nice to see Miss P and Mr Hill join us too.

May you all have a restful, safe and happy holiday. Term 3 will be full of new learnings and please continue to look at the dates on our school calendar to when events are taking place next term.

Looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 11th July for the beginning of Term 3.
