Welcome Back

Welcome back to the start of the new school year.  I trust that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

I would like to congratulate and welcome our new staff members for 2019.  Maddy Hicks will be taking Early Years Science and Learning Support and Dee Madden our Library SSO.

Over the past two days staff have been involved in Getting Off to a Great Start - 'Tuning into 2019'.

This has focussed on our people, through further developing connections and getting to know each other more, which we hope will promote ongoing conversations as we interact throughout the year.

This collaborative approach develops understanding across the school to ensure a consistent approach to teaching and learning and wellbeing.

This approach of focussing on our people will continue into the classrooms with students over the next two weeks and also with families through information which will be distributed next week, and our 'Building Connections' - Community Night on Thursday 7th February. Hopefully it will not be too hot like like year and the event will be able to go ahead.

The start to 2019 is extremely hectic in the first few weeks, so please check the diary dates listed in this iNewsletter to ensure you don’t miss anything.

On Tuesday morning if your child cannot remember which room they are in, Leadership will be in the yard from 8.30am with class lists, or you can make your way into the office to see Trudy and Vanessa.

I recently read the following article Strategies to Help Make your Child's First Day of the School Year, a Little Less Daunting. I thought many of you might enjoy some tips for planning for next week.

We look forward to catching up with everyone on Tuesday and once again we will have the coffee van available for families in the yard from 8:30am.

'Building Connections' Community Night

Thursday 7th February 2018 // 5pm-7pm

In ensuring everyone makes a positive and great start to 2019, LNPS will be holding a community night event in Week 2, Thursday 7th February.

This evening will give families the opportunity to:

  • meet LNPS staff, other families and community members
  • enjoy a BBQ
  • become informed about LNPS

We look forward to seeing many of our community members coming along and enjoying the evening.

Learning Conferences

In 2018 Goal Setting Meetings were a huge success and very beneficial for students, teachers and families.

LNPS continuously reviews approaches and seeks feedback on how we can improve. Through feedback from families and staff on Goal Setting Conferences collected last year, LNPS will be making slight modifications to the approach in 2019. This will ensure conferences are further personalised, to meet the needs of our students and families.

Learning Conferences will be occurring with families and students during weeks 5 and 6 of this term and in Term 3.

More information about learning conferences and bookings for the meetings will be distributed on Friday of week 3. This will be done via notes to families and in Teaching and Learning iNewsletters.
