St John First Aid Incursion
On Friday 19th August every class attended a 45 minute first aid session. These sessions were adapted to suit each year level with the key message being what to do if confronted with an emergency.
By all accounts the students enjoyed these sessions and have come away with valuable knowledge and skills.

Swimming - Foundation, Year 1 & Year 2
Wow, what an awesome 8 days of swimming for the Junior school. Every single student (147 in total) participated in the program - a great benefit of the Swimming in Schools funding.
It is the first time the students have been able to attend school swimming lessons, and for many the first swimming lessons they have ever had.
The students learnt lots of new skills in the water and the importance of being safe around water. They are to be congratulated on their ability to get themselves dry and dressed too.
A massive thankyou to all the staff who attended with the students and extra shout outs to those staff who assisted students in the water - it would not be possible without their dedication.
Year 3 & 4 Gymnastics Program
The year 3 and 4 students have just completed a 4 week gymnastics program with Coach Kat from Bayside gymnastics. This was part of the Sport school grant funding which we were successful in receiving.
It has been amazing to see the increase in confidence amongst all the students. They have worked on forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands. cartwheels and tuck jumps.
Chevy (4a) - It was so much fun I loved doing a jump and forward roll.
Summer (4b) - I have loved it all, I cant decide which activity was my favourite.
Life Education with Healthy Harold
Finally after a 2 year absence we welcomed Healthy Harold back to our school.
Each class attended a session with Harold and it is safe to say a great time was had by all. Even the staff were happy to snap some selfies with him!
Creative Arts
It has been so wonderful moving into the new Art studio! We have been having lots of fun making different things for Book Week and Father's Day.
This week the Juniors designed and decorated papier mache spinning drums, inspired by a picture story book. They enjoyed making lots of different percussion noises during story time!
An introduction to the Media Arts program for Term 4!!
The Middle and Senior school explored the 'Stop Motion' app using Lego this week. They absolutely loved experimenting with the program and watching each others mini movies. They are definitely excited for the term ahead with their upcoming projects. Students will be working in teams to plan and create animated movies, using a variety of materials to make sets and characters.
- The seniors will be starting off the term with Claymation, in order to expose them to more skills before planning their own movies.
- The middles will be making 2D set designs to use for their scene backgrounds.
- The juniors will be creating story books on the iPad through photos, images, recordings and text.
Environmental Studies
We have had such an exciting week in the senior school, carrying out lots of experiments and even taking our lessons outside. In the last three weeks we have been investigating water molecules and surface tension. A Year 5&6 highlight was definitely making ooblek.
Kitchen Garden
Amazing smells have been filling our new kitchen. The students have made vegetable nuggets, lemonade scones and choc chip cookies this term. The recipes are attached below if you would like to make them at home.
Recipes
The Year 4 students had the opportunity to get back into the garden this week. It was very clear that we all love gardening!
Nature Play
We have been busy investigating sinking and floating over the last couple of weeks and even made some raft boats. This week we worked on nature weaving and using plants from our indigenous garden.
