Principal's Report

A shorter than usual Term 2 has come to an end, but it certainly has been a very full nine weeks.

Given the experiences of 2020 and 2021, perhaps the biggest positive has been another complete term of onsite learning. Nonetheless, our school and the wider community have faced ongoing COVID-related challenges. And while over the last month the number of staff and student COVID cases has declined, there has been a significant increase in other illnesses which continue to impact on student attendance and staff absence.

Overall, it has been a very successful term with many learning and extra-curricular highlights, including:

  • The very positive way Year 10 and 11 students engaged with their recent mid-year exams, and Year 7 and 9 students approached NAPLAN testing.
  • The variety of career opportunities experienced by Year 10s during their work experience program.
  • The amazing production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
  • The performance of Year 9 and 11 Theatre Studies students in the very well-received Shakespeare Festival.
  • The work of student and staff leaders in organising activities for events such as International Women’s Day, International Nurses Day, IDAHOBIT Day and Reconciliation  Week.
  • The participation and energy of all students at the Athletics Carnival, and the commitment of so many students to interschool sports and our Sports Academy program.

Well done to students and staff for all their efforts this term. I hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved break.
