VCE REGIONAL EDUCATION SUPPORT NETWORK (RESN) PRESENTATION

RESN’s is a free online learning platform that aims to counter disparities between regional and metropolitan education resources and improve academic outcomes for students. Our organisation is staffed entirely by passionate university student volunteers, who coordinate a network of over 100 high-achieving tutors with study scores above 40. Our tutors have a strong knowledge of the VCE syllabus, confident teaching methods and a passion to relay knowledge in a way that is engaging and informative for students. Our services are designed to reinforce and complement in-class learning and provide more out-of-school opportunities to consolidate students’ understanding of the syllabus.

Our suite of services is completely free, and is composed of:

  • RESN Help: an original question-and-answer service, where students can submit a question or unmarked essay and receive a detailed answer from our tutors within 24 hours.
  • RESN Learn: a resource database where students can preview, learn, and revise syllabus content with our custom content summaries and practice questions.
  • RESN Live: subject-specific tutoring sessions with high-achieving tutors, and rural and regional peers, over Zoom.

In particular, the RESN Help platform effectively builds students’ confidence through detailed explanations of concepts, personalised essay feedback and answers to any queries regarding life after university. RESN’s median response time to Help questions is nine hours - this efficiency helps minimise students’ stress and reduce the marking burden on teachers during time-strained periods.

In Person Presentation: Monday, August 21 – lunchtime in the Seminar Room, Library.
