Rainbow Celebration Day

At McClelland College we are always working to ensure that our school is a safe place where LGBTIQ+ young people are seen and supported. On the 19th of June, to recognise the recent International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia & Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) and celebrate Pride Month, McClelland College held a Rainbow Celebration at lunchtime. As upbeat tunes played throughout the IC, it was terrific to see so many students and staff attend the celebration.

There were a number of activities for students to enjoy including a polaroid photo booth, nail painting, temporary tattoos, LGBTQI+ ally pledges, a quiz and more. We were also incredibly fortunate to have Cal and Kellie join us from the Frankston Youth Network. Their badge maker proved to be a hit with many students creating their own badges to wear with pride. A big thank you must go out to the True Colours Alliance students and staff who helped to guide us in the planning and running of the day. Finally, thank you to the incredible staff who volunteered to make hundreds of pieces of fairy bread for us all to enjoy. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year.
