Boa Vista Road Safety and Parking
Staff and Parents have identified a number of safety and parking issues and/or incidents recently on Boa Vista Rd. To ensure the safety for all and suitable road rules compliance, please:
- Do not stop illegally or in the middle of the road to pick up or drop off students.
- Everyone should use the kerb bulbing to safely cross the road.
- Boa Vista Road currently has no parking between 8-9 am and 2:30-4 pm and drivers need to stay with their vehicle when dropping children off.
- Do not park or stop over resident driveways, on yellow lines or in “No Standing Zones”. This is illegal.
- We encourage families and students to park in Stoke Street or Lewis Street and then walk to School. This will minimise congestion on Boa Vista Road, Argyle Street and Archer Street.
Brett Lee: Internet Safety Education
Monday 26 June
Students in Years 9-12 will hear from Brett Lee, a leading expert in internet safety education, on Monday 26 June. Brett will challenge students' mindsets and assumptions about the realities of the online world, aiming to empower students with the knowledge they need to act responsibly in the online environment. Brett will speak to each year group separately, thus it has been necessary to make some adjustments to timetables. Students will be sent the relevant adjustments.
Fight MND Big Freeze 2023, hosted by C12 and C13 Tutor Groups
Thursday 29 June
Students from these Tutor Groups have organised the event and lots of teachers have bravely registered their interest to “take the plunge” for an important cause. Motor neurone disease (MND) is a debilitating disease which attacks the patient’s nerves ant takes away their ability to walk, speak, swallow and ultimately breathe with an average life expectancy of just 27 months from diagnosis. With many family members and friends of our School community affected by MND this is a valuable opportunity to raise much needed funds and awareness.
Students, staff and community members are invited to come along to the Lower Green at the Argyle Street Camp from 11am to 11.30am to show their support. You can also donate to our fundraiser using this link or by making a cash donation at the school office. Push Up Challenge
The Push Up Challenge is an initiative of the Push for Better Foundation and is Australia’s largest mental health and fitness initiative. This year our Clemes Council Wellbeing Reps are encouraging participants to perform 3,144 pushups over 23 days in July. If you don’t like pushups, you can do squats, situps or some other exercise.
Each day, participants are given a target number of exercises related to an Australian mental health statistic.
Contact your tutor rep, James or Hayley to sign up!
