Reconciliation Week at CEPS
Reconciliation Week goes from the 27th of May to the 3rd of June. During this time we try to reconcile and bond with the Indigenous people of our country. We recognise mistakes that have been made in the past, and think about ways to make things better. We learn to recognise these people who have cared for the land for more than 65,000 years. At CEPS all the grades have completed an activity such as making woven fish to celebrate Reconciliation Week.

This week we celebrated Reconciliation Week. We celebrate Reconciliation Week by sharing cultures, history and achievements. This event takes place every year on the 27th of May to the 3rd of June. In class we learnt how important it is to recognize all cultures and to try to make a mends when things go wrong. All classes completed activities to recognize the Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people. Activities will be displayed in the main building over the next few weeks. Please come and have a look.

This week at C.E.P.S. we celebrated Reconciliation Week.
Every year, we celebrate Reconciliation Week from the 27th of May to the 3rd of June.
Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements. We can also explore how each and every one of us can
contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
This year's theme is " Be a voice for Generations".
This week all grades did some great activities and learned a lot about our history and our appreciation for the Traditional owners of this land. All our activities will be hung up in the corridors of the main building over the next few weeks.
The definition of reconciliation is to restore a relationship between two.

Lightning Premiership Day
The Cheltenham District Lightning Premiership was held on Friday 16th June. Ten schools participated in the carnival.
Pool A is for the teams who win most of their matches during the Home and Away season. The winner of Pool A qualifies for the next division. Pool B consists of teams that are learning the rules of the game and working towards improving their skills.
Our results:
- Mixed softball finished second and missed out on winning Pool A by one run!
- Girls softball won Pool B.
- Our soccer team finished third in Pool A.
- Mixed netball won two games and drew one in Pool B.
- Our girls’ netball team finished second and missed out on winning Pool A in a count back to Mentone Girls Grammar.
- AFL won Pool A and will now progress to the Division play offs in July.
A big congratulations to all of our players. They showed great courage and sportsmanship on the day.
Thank you to Mr Ridgway, Ms Boucher and Mrs Kerr for coaching us on the day. A big special thank you to Ms Bull for stepping in to coach soccer and to John who helped out at the football. Thanks also goes to the parents who came and supported us.
We will let you know how the footballers go at the Kingston Division play offs.

World Ocean Day
On Thursday 8th June students came to school dressed as a sea creature or character or in green or blue to celebrate World Ocean Day.
Caring for our oceans is a really important job for all of us to take part in. Sadly pollution in our waterways is a big problem, especially plastic waste.
The JSC held a poster competition with the aim of raising awareness of the effect of pollution on the health of our ocean and the impact on marine animals and plants. We wanted to show how each one of us can make a difference by the choices we make. We also raised over $400 for the Dolphin Research Institute to support them in their work in researching and reporting on the health of the marine life that lives off the Victorian coast.
Thank you to everyone who entered the competition. The posters are fantastic and are now displayed around the school. It was difficult for the JSC to judge a winner but in the end, we awarded prizes to;
Ayana (Year 5 and 6)
Ira and Tamara (Year 3 and 4)
Anaya (Foundation to Year 2)
Regards,
The JSC.
Grade 6 camp
On the 7th, 8th and 9th of June the Year 6 cohort went to a camp on the Mornington Peninsula called the “Ranch”. We stayed for two nights and three days. Some of our favorite activities were; mountain boarding, horse riding, giant swing and initiatives. The camp was beautiful and had a lot of animals such as chickens, goats and of course horses. The horses were a big part of our joy at camp. They all had names including; Strawberry, Comet, Simone, Benson, Ally, Bandit and Tank. We had so much fun and thank the year six teachers for organizing the camp.
Thank you to all the teachers, Mr Ridgway, Syd’s Mum and Will for coming with us.

The Resilience Project
In the final part of The Resilience Project's parent series, Hugh shares an important message about allowing our children to experience adversity.
The key to building resilience in our children is allowing them to experience failure, hardship, disappointment etc. As parents, we can be too quick to resolve our children's challenges which can deprive our children of enormous growth opportunities. These typically happen when we experience failure and uncertainty. As parents we should be there for our children when they fail, but not fight their battles for them.
