Year 9/10 Art Elective Exhibition
Monday, June 4 – Wednesday, June 20
“Mum, I want to do my own thing…….” If this is a statement that resonates within the walls of your home then it is likely that you have a teenager living in your mist. Ah… the joy! Well, the adolescent desire for freedom, to make their own choices, do their own thing and to follow their passions has been fully embraced in the Art room this semester.
Students in the 9/10 Art Elective have had a taste of what it would be like working as an artist given the art room has been operating more like an artist studio rather than a classroom. Following the design process students were free to express their own passions and interests and were encouraged to explore a wide variety of media and artforms. Put simply, everyone was doing something different. It has been an exciting, vibrant working space where students have been inspired, taken risks, been bold and brave in many cases stepping outside their comfort zone exploring things they never knew they could do.
The culmination of this journey is expressed in an exhibition in our own school gallery and art room space. Students were given the task of collaborating this exhibition, with each student being responsible for the hanging and layout of their own work, the presentation of which contributes towards their assessment. The exhibition runs from Monday, June 4 - Wednesday, June 20 in the Art Gallery and A1. All are welcome - come and be inspired!
