Patrick Dempsey

Hi everyone.  This is my first year working as an English and Chinese teacher at Scoresby Secondary College, and I’m so happy to be back.

After spending ten weeks my final placement at Scoresby Secondary College last year with Murray Cronin, and an extra five weeks working with the Education Support Team, I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to apply for a teaching position here.

Before I started on my path as a teacher, I spent a semester studying Chinese in Nanjing, China. Not only did this give me a passion for the Chinese language, it inspired me for teaching and encouraging more non-native students to pick up the language.  While I was completing my Double Degree in Teaching and Arts, I worked part time in in a bookstore and a coaching school. I also had opportunities to further build my skills by undertaking study trips, visits and internships in China. I have been lucky enough throughout this time to host Chinese events, with the most recent  being for the Chinese New Year Celebration in the city this year. 

I am thrilled to be working with such a great team in the English and Chinese department, and am thankful to have such a wonderful group of students.
