We Will Rock You

The ‘We Will Rock You’ production cast, broke from their holiday fun to come into school on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 July, to rehearse for their August shows.

Our scaffolding went up to give us a feel for the actual performances, which allowed the cast to rehearse what has been done with the show thus far. This was a very exciting time for the whole cast making the production feel closer and more real.

On the first day we began with learning a new scene being the ‘Ogre Battle’ where the bohemians get captured by the big company Globalsoft run by the Killer Queen. Tension filled the performance space due to the high intensity of sirens, yelling and strong movements. After this was completed we did a full run of act one polishing scenes, choreography and dialogue.

On the second day we had a piano run of act 1 with some of our band (past students and paid musicians) coming in. This was very beneficial as we were able to run through choreography and dialogue in time with how the show will eventually run with the band. We also learnt the hit song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, which was a lot of fun learning the actual words to the songs and proper harmony’s. The whole cast enjoyed learning this song whilst also finding it difficult.

We had our first weekend rehearsal on Saturday where we finished off learning ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by learning the choreography for it. The cast was very impressed with our choreographers talents whilst learning the simple but effective choreography.

Chorus also started painting their plastic skirts for their Gaga kids characters and making props for the show.

The production ‘We Will Rock You’ is fast approaching with shows being; August the 23 to-25 (with the Saturday night show sold out).
