FROM THE PRINCIPAL

TERM 3
School Review
Last term we were involved in the school review process that occurs every four years in all government schools. The school measures its performance against goals that were set in the previous strategic plan and, against statewide student achievement benchmarks.
The process involved a self assessment that included staff, students and parents, followed by an external reviewer leading the review panel through a 5 day process.
The review panel consists of; the external reviewer, our school council president, two external principals, department representatives and the principal team.
The reviewer met with many groups including; student focus groups, teacher groups and a parent forum. Classroom observations were also included in the process.
A report is being prepared by the reviewer that will include agreed goals to inform the next strategic plan.
The reviewer was very impressed with what we have achieved and immensely enjoyed speaking with the students, staff and parents. She reinforced our view that a great deal has been done to ensure we can give our students the best school experience possible.
The review process gives us a tremendous opportunity to see what we have achieved and where we need to go next in order to improve the educational well-being outcomes for our students and improve their pathways through the school and beyond.
Semester 1 Awards
Congratulations to the students who received awards at the recent awards assemblies.
Academic Excellence and Endeavour are the awards that are presented. Excellence awards recognise excellent grades, work ethic and attitude and Endeavour awards recognise those students who have demonstrated a willingness to work hard and persist through any challenge.
Thanks to the year level teams who organise the awards and to the family members who came along to be part of the assemblies and student achievement.
Lilydale High School Centenary
Next year marks 100 years of Lilydale High School. Over the course of the next months, there will be information on our Facebook page and the school website.
One of the many initiatives to celebrate this milestone is the introduction of the Lilydale High School Hall of Fame. We are looking for those students from across the years who have excelled in their field of endeavour, whether that be in their professional life, sporting pursuits or working in the community.
A nomination form will be available shortly for the nomination process to take place, with a panel being established to determine who will be our inaugural inductees.
Congratulations
Lee Taylor and Riley Spicer (Year 11), have recently been awarded a School Sport Victoria Scholarship for excellence in their chosen sport, women’s football and basketball respectively.
Congratulations to both recipients, we look forward to hearing about your success in the future.
