Junior Girls

State Football Final

On Thursday 30 August,  Miss McLachlan and Miss Sommers took the Year 7 and 8 Junior Girls Football Team out to Craigieburn for the State Final against Melbourne Girls Grammar.

It was an incredibly close game, that saw the game tied at 3 quarter time.  Unfortunately in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter, the other team scored and we were unable to close the gap.

Although we didn’t come away with the win, Miss Sommers and I, are incredibly proud of the effort and determination our girls consistently showed.

Special mention to Lexi Habenschuss (Year 9), who was a brilliant Assistant Coach.

MVP on the day was Jess Hoskin.

Well done to our 'Junior Football Girls' on an outstanding effort.

Senior Boys Netball

CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to the Senior Boys Netball team who on Monday, took out the State Final at Waverley Netball Centre.

The boys had wins against Phoenix P-12 School, Lavella CC and Box Hill High School, to book themselves a spot in the grand final against Melbourne High.

Melbourne had beaten the boys earlier in the pool games however, a determined Lilydale came out and played a fantastic game.

The match was tight through the first 2 quarters, with the scores level at half time. Lilydale managed to pull away to a slight lead in the third quarter, behind some fantastic defence from Tom McDonald and Connor Walker and some excellent shooting, from Ben Ahale and Riley Spicer.

In the final term, Melbourne put up a fight to get the game almost back to even, before some excellence mid court play, from Lochie Johnson and Jayden Weichard and some key interceptions from Jack Hourihan, which enabled Lilydale to hold onto their lead.

The final score, saw Lilydale winners by 5 goals.

Well done to all the boys, including Seb Villareal for a fantastic team effort.

ADP students -

Tour of the VIS

On Wednesday 5 September, the two ADP classes went to the VIS (Victorian Institute of Sport).

When we arrived there at 10:00 am, we were introduced to a lady who showed us a video of some athletes and the sports that they do.

Then we had to do a push up challenge where your hand and knees could not touch the floor.  This was a challenge for us!

We also we went on a tour of the outside part of the VIS with Peter Bol who is a 800m runner. We talked to him and asked him about his running.

Then we went into the indoor area and the lady showed us a video of a man trying to go as fast as he could while riding an exercise bike to cook a piece of toast in a toaster. Then we all had a go on the bike to see how fast we could go.

Next, we took a tour in the gym area . Our tour guide for this area was Rahni, she is a Netball player who plays with the Melbourne Vixens. She told us about the strengthening and conditioning side of being an athlete.

Peter Bol , Mariah and some of the boys, had a basketball shoot out and everyone enjoyed watching them.

Finally we had lunch in the grounds of Albert Park Lake. Overall it was a great day that everyone enjoyed and we all got something out of it.
