Anzac Day
The MGSC community commemorated Anzac day at their homes across the south-eastern suburbs.
It was gratifying to see our community take time for quiet reflection, sharing their family history, baking biscuits and simple last post ceremonies in their driveways. The photos above include Madeleine Salisbury, Kenny Senior Music Captain, playing the Last Post in her driveway.

The Bouchier family service
Simone Bouchier, Humanities Domain Leader, shares the symbolism of Anzac Day for her family.
I’m the proud daughter of a Vietnam Veteran. This is a photo of myself and my Dad, David Bouchier, at an Anzac Day march down at Torquay a few years ago.
A few years prior to that, I undertook some archival investigations, and arranged for two sets of medals for a further two generations of our family as well – one set of dress medals (as Dad and I are wearing) and another set for framing.
These represent the service of:
- My Dad, David Bouchier – Vietnam War (worn by Dad on his left hand side)
- My Grandfather, Harry Bouchier – World War Two (worn by Dad on his right hand side)
- My Great-Grandfather, Patrick Bouchier – World War One, and the Boer War (worn by me, on my right had side. First two medals from my right hand side are for the Boer War; next three for WW1)
Last month, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs saw fit to commission a new lapel pin and covenant, which was sent to all Australian Defence veterans.
