2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the State Schools Spectacular - the biggest live music production in Victoria. The spectacular went on show last Saturday 12 September with two incredible performances at the Hisense Arena. More than 3000 students took to the stage singing, dancing and performing in the orchestra.  The theme for 2015 was ‘What’s Your Story?’.

Kate Collier (Year 9), Stuart Higham (Year 10), Ceridwen McCooey (Year 10) gave wonderful performances, and I congratulate all for being wonderful ambassadors for McKinnon. The State School’s Spectacular will be televised on Channel 7 in October.

ASIA WEEK

Our relationship and engagement with all things ‘Asian’ were celebrated this week during Asia Week festivities. Fabulous food, music and dance brought about great enjoyment and a celebration of cultural diversity and understanding.

I thank in particular Mrs Nayyar for her dedication and commitment to putting together a very enjoyable and successful week of celebration.

ORCHESTRA PERFORMANCE

I received wonderful feedback about our students during the recent orchestra tour. Thank you to all involved for being great ambassadors for our college.

“To the Principal Pitsa Binnion,

I am wishing to thank your music fraternity and students for the most magical orchestral musical concert that occurred on Saturday the 1st of August here @ Banfield's Aged Care Facility in Cowes. I have been trying to contact you all month and today after hearing comments are still being made regarding the students' performance and their manners I have to contact you." The other comments of the day "I kept looking up at the ceiling to make sure the roof wasn't going to take off. The sound was marvellous and they were so polite when they came around the room and spoke with everyone during their break and afternoon tea'.”

TERM 3

Term 3 has been very hectic indeed.  Tremendous learning has been undertaken and I thank our dedicated and passionate teachers who work tirelessly to ensure students are given every opportunity to strive academically and socially.

We have a strong sense of belonging and community at McKinnon due to the wonderful opportunities provided for the students in our care.

May I wish the community much enjoyment with family and friends over the coming break.
