OUR FAITH

PRAYER
Sustaining God, caretaker of life, you are always present. You live in us.
Watch over our school community during the break, and keep us safe in your watchful gaze.
Bless our school community as we celebrate our holidays.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
We pray ...
for all of our St Nicholas School community members, for Fr Chris as he embarks on his holiday to Nigeria, for all Year 12 students, in particular, the McCarthy Catholic College students as they complete their final days of schooling, and for more desperately needed rain.

CONFIRMATION
Confirmation Retreat Day- Last Friday
The Confirmation Retreat Day was a great success thanks to many who volunteered their time and services. All students who attended the retreat enjoyed the day thoroughly and commented on how reflective, prayerful and enriching the experience was as young members of our faith community. Many commented on how interesting it was listening to Bishop Kennedy speak and we thank Bishop Kennedy for his time. Our thanks also must go to Fr Chris, the Parish helpers, Mrs Hofman, Mrs Martin, Mrs Daley and 24 Year 10 McCarthy Catholic College students who were able to give their own personal insights and reflections about Confirmation and their faith life.
The Sacrament of Confirmation
Congratulations to the children who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation last weekend. This was the most wonderful occasion for the students and their families. The children were appropriately dressed and we thank our parents for their support. A very big thank you and special mention must go to Bishop Michael Kennedy and Fr Chris for the manner in which they made each Mass so memorable and special for our children, their families and all in attendance. We also thank the Altar servers for their dedication and commitment to our Parish Confirmation Masses. Thank you also to the Parish choir for supporting our children and for the many members of our Parish and school who have been praying for our children. Mrs Hofman, Mrs Martin and Mrs Daley also need to be thanked for ensuring that the children were well prepared for this important occasion. We pray that the Holy Spirit will work through them as they continue to seek and continually use the gifts of the Holy Spirit in everyday life.
INFANTS LITURGY (Kindergarten - Yr 2)
Yesterday, the Infants students celebrated a very special Infant’s Liturgy at St Nicholas Church. The singing and reading by all students were outstanding. We thank Fr Francis for leading the liturgy and all the mums, dads, grandparents and special friends who attended. Thank you also to Mrs Tighe and the Infants teachers who ensured the liturgy ran smoothly.
OCTOBER IS MISSION MONTH
Advanced Notice
This year’s Catholic Mission theme is 'Do not fear for I am with you.’ Isiah 41:10. Catholic Mission is asking that we join others throughout Australia to learn more about issues of mission and justice. To support Catholic Mission Month our school will be having an awareness-raising day on Friday 18th October where the students will be allowed to wear non-uniformed socks to school for the day. Being mindful of the current financial climate, this day is not about raising money but rather raising awareness and standing in solidarity, particualry with the people Ghana and the work of Sister Stan Therese Mumuni. More information about Catholic Mission can be found at
