Science Cluster Day 2021 - Physics at Lake Wallace
Students from Balmoral, Goroke and Edenhope travelled to Lake Wallace for a fun-filled day of Science activities on Tuesday 14th December. After forming a partnership between the three schools earlier in the year, the Science Departments planned a day filled with energy themed physics activities, helping to culminate all students’ learnings from their last term of science.
Students completed a round-robin of activities including: making ‘Alka Seltzer Rockets’, investigating the properties of ‘Reactive Balls’, making ‘Ice-Cream’ alongside a ‘Scavenger Hunt’. Students learnt about energy types alongside energy calculations, transformations and Newton’s Second Law of Motion.
The activities were a collaboration between science teachers Julie-Ann Lyons, Catherine Craig, Shahriar Iqbal and Louise Hobbs, assisted by Keiren Brennan, Grace Risson, Joanne Amott and Trevor McClure.
The action-packed day finished with newfound friendships along with a delicious BBQ lunch, that Chad Frost and Brian O'Leary cooked for us, thank you!
Year 12 Revision Lectures
On Friday the 11th of February, the Year 12 VCE students travelled to Horsham to attend English revision lectures. The two sessions we attended were very insightful and informative. The lecturers provided invaluable resources to benefit our student's education. To finish our day, we went to Horsham Lanes & Games and played a round of bowling. After a fair few gutter balls, the students found their groove and we saw a countless number of spares and Sam even finishing off with a strike. Brooke was our overall winner with a total of 109.

Advance
The 2022 year 9 and 10 Advance class have been learning to cook on trangia stoves this week. Faced with making an egg and bacon roll, students worked enthusiastically in their groups to light and cook on their stoves. A few misshapen eggs and some very crispy bacon rashers were thoroughly enjoyed by all!
