I would like an abundance of peace.
I would like full vessels of charity.
I would like rich treasures of mercy.
I would like cheeerfulness to preside over all.
St Brigid of Kildare
Dear Parents and Friends,
Congratulations all on finishing another term of fantastic work in the remote environment. Even though we have not been together to celebrate events here at school we have managed to put together some fun activities for the children to participate in if they wanted to.
Farewell Michele/Welcome to Fiona
As with all good things coming to an end we have to say a sad farewell to Michele, who finishes up with us on Friday. Michele has been such a valuable support to our school and I wish her all the very best with her new position. As with all lockdown farewells, Michele’s will be over a zoom meeting on Friday.
With a farewell comes a welcome. Fiona has been training with Michele since last week, and has had a great start to her time here at St Brigid’s. She is slowly meeting the staff and getting to know us all. Going to a new position in lockdown is also difficult.
Message from Fiona:
Hi, my name is Fiona Blair and I have accepted the position as the new Finance Manager at St Brigid’s. I have recently come from the private sector and whilst I enjoyed that position I yearned to be part of the school environment again.
Previously, I worked at a secondary school in Frankston for twelve years and enjoyed being part of the community/family. I bring to St Brigid’s a wealth of knowledge and experience.
I look forward to working with St Brigid’s staff, students and community. I cannot wait to meet you all.
Uniform changes
We have been working behind the scenes looking at a change in our uniform which was first mooted way back in 2019, when we put a survey out to families to give feedback about the uniform…...then COVID hit.
From the survey there was an indication that we wanted a change. As with all changes in uniform, we will have a staggered approach over a period of time. By the end of 2023 we will move fully to the new uniform.
We have been working with a uniform company PSW and we will have a display ready for you in term 4, with the new and improved uniform. As requested we will be moving away from the sky blue polo shirts.
Our first change is a brand new item - a house colour sport top. This top can be worn every PE lesson as well as at other sporting events. See the accompanying photo. This top can be worn with the existing sports shorts and tracksuits or can be worn with the new tracksuit pants for winter. The sport tops will be available towards the end of Term 4 ready to start the 2022 school year.
Summer Uniform and Hats
Students are to wear their correct summer uniform in Term 4. There will be a two week transition period to account for the changes in weather conditions. We just ask that students are in either their full winter or summer uniform - not a mixture of both. All students must have a School Hat from Monday, so please check your child's hat is in a respectable condition and that it is clearly named. In accordance with COVID-19 Regulation all our classrooms will require external ventilation, so if it's cool students are free to bring in an extra jacket.
World's Greatest Shave
Congratulations to Finn who raised over $1500 for the World’s Greatest Shave. What a wonderful job you did Finn and I certainly enjoyed the funny faces you pulled while getting your head shaved.
Onsite Learning Term 4
At this stage we have had no press releases as to when schools will return to onsite learning. The update, with hopefully a road map out of lockdown, is planned for Sunday 19th September. This is the first week of the school holidays so please keep an eye out for an Operoo note if we have to continue with Remote Learning in Term 4.
Enjoy the term holidays and please look after each other, like you have done through each and every lockdown.
Take care and stay safe
Yours in partnership.
