Principal's News

Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome back to Term 4 and hooray! At the time of writing this newsletter we have a roadmap out of lockdown. Again, I cannot express to you how much your support has meant to us. Your kind words, your enjoyment of the activities and the continual supervision of your children online has been….. I really don’t have the words ….amazing doesn’t really cover it. I know the teachers are beyond thankful for all you have done, as am I.

The table below shows the roadmap for us.  Children of essential workers and have been at school in week 1 and 2 will still be able to come onsite on the days they are not at school with their class and teacher.

I chose to cancel the school closure day prior to the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday on Tuesday, because the children were only starting to come back onsite and I wanted them to have some continuity.

Thank you for your patience as we introduce a staggered introduction to onsite learning.

School Uniform

We look forward to introducing our new school items, the introduction of a sports top seems to have been a positive move. We will have a staggered approach to the new uniform, and we will continue to communicate when the new items will be available. The sports top will be available to purchase towards the end of term 4.

Fundraising Colour Run - Friday 12th November

Finally, we can complete our long awaited Colour Run! Information was sent home for parents on Tuesday 5th October to start to set up your child's profile. We are aiming to raise $10,000 for our sensory garden/outdoor classroom. To break it down that is less than $1000 a class. There are a lot of prizes available when you raise money. At this stage we do not know if parents can attend or if we can have it at George Woods. We will continue to update  you as we get more guidelines from MACS.

We are hoping to make it a day of fun activities and a sausage sizzle for the children.

Participants will be rewarded for their fundraising efforts with awesome prizes, you can see what you can earn in the link in step 5.

Foundation 2022 Parent Information Night

We look forward to seeing our Foundation 2022 parents at our information night on Tuesday 12 October at 7:00pm.  Unfortunately COVID restrictions have meant we will have to meet via Zoom rather than onsite at School.  All families should have received an email with the Zoom link this week.  If you have not please contact Tracey in the office - office@sbmord.catholic.edu.au.

School Advisory Council - New member

We need a new member for our School Advisory Council. The role is that of the secretary which involves putting out the agenda to the council members and taking minutes from the meeting. The School Advisory Council is an advisory entity only. If you would like to join our Advisory Council please contact me.

Farewell

This week we say a fond farewell to the Murphy Family - Derek, Kath, Hamish and Rueben (5/6C).  The Murphy's joined us at St Brigid's in 2011.  Derek has been offered an exciting new position in the UK so the whole family are off on an adventure!  Good bye and good luck from all your friends at St Brigid's.

Yours in partnership
