Principal's Message
Ian Margetts
Acting Principal
Dear St Mary’s community,
On Friday 8th October the College held its annual Year 12 Valedictory Dinner. This provided a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the Year 12 cohort as they near their last assessments in the final year of compulsory schooling. We acknowledged them for their ‘yes’ to the varying academic, sporting, cultural and outreach opportunities over their time at St Mary’s and for how their individuality has contributed to the interwoven fabric that makes the College such a dynamic place.
Parents, staff, and the broader community were acknowledged and thanked for their support.
We also offered this prayer:
Gracious and caring God, our source of light, through the intercession of Mary we ask for your almighty hand to be upon these Year 12 students as they complete their studies. AMEN
With their final classes, assessments, and exams, may they strive toward excellence in all they do. AMEN
When the speeches conclude, may their voices rise up to pronounce peace and justice in the world. AMEN
When the fanfare ceases, may they find bliss in future endeavours and adventures. AMEN
With degrees and credentials in hand, may their achievements grow and enrich their communities. AMEN
As their careers commence, may they conduct their life's work with exceptional skill and integrity. AMEN
May they discover Holiness in the midst of life's blessings as well life's challenges. AMEN
Through FAITH, HOPE and LOVE, may they make a difference in our world. AMEN
We wish our Year 12 students all the best with their final assessments and look forward to celebrating their graduation on the 17th November.
The rescheduled Arts evening was held on Saturday 9th October. The interactive nature and variety of performances and activities effectively showcased the diversity of opportunity as well as outstanding student talent at St Mary’s. Thank you to Mr Daniel Krause for his organisation and coordination as well as the many other staff who made the event possible.
Year 10 Retreat is being held this week and there are many more significant events over the coming weeks including Year 12 External Exams commencing this Friday, Year 8 Camp (Week 4), Presentation Evening (9th November) and Graduation Mass (17th November) to name just a few.
All these opportunities do not occur without the support of teaching staff. The efforts of teaching staff around the world are celebrated each year on World Teachers' Day. This year teachers have continued to show their resilience, leadership and adaptability including adapting their learning environments and rescheduling activities, all with the view to providing the best opportunities for students.
Wishing all our community the best for a successful Term 4.
Blessings
