School Wide Positive Behaviour Support       (SWPBS)

SWPBS is a framework Edenhope College has been involved in since 2018, which when implemented, approaches behaviour in the same way we approach academics; as something, which can be taught, and learnt.

Our school values of being safe, being willing to learn, and being respectful are made explicit through weekly focus statements and the presentation of lessons to teach students how the value should look like when practised. For the next three weeks we are focusing on:

Week 3
  • Willing to Learn – We problem solve
  • Willing to Learn – We learn from our mistakes
Week 4
  • Safe – We keep spaces tidy
  • Safe – We use spaces appropriately
Week 5
  • Respectful – We represent our school with pride
  • Safe – We contribute positively

Students are recognised for acting safe, learning and being respectful by receiving Roowards from staff that can be used to buy things from the Roo Shop.

Parents and carers can help

strengthen our College values by

talking about them with the

students at home. It might also be a

great idea to practise these values at

home, for example: telling an adult

when you are visiting a friend (being

safe), saying please and thank you (being respectful) and doing homework (being

willing to learn).

“The goal of positive behaviour support is not ‘perfect children’, but the goal should be creating the perfect environment for enhancing their growth.”  Randy Sprick
