Principal's Message

Galilee Name Day

On Friday we celebrated the name day of our school Galilee. Even though we celebrated via Zoom we had a fabulous day acknowledging Galilee's Name Day. In the words of our school song...

In Galilee Primary, with Jesus as friend,

we will let our light shine out for all.

Seeking and learning in a spirit of trust,

bringing hope as we answer the call.

Galilee’s Got Talent

Does Galilee have talent? Well the answer to that question is a resounding yes! Despite COVID-19 restrictions, the children and parents certainly enjoyed the many varied performances. We saw some amazing performances from the world of film making, great pianists, country and western, musical instruments, Star Wars lightsaber skills, dazzling dancers, spooky scary skeletons, hoola hoops, skateboarding, kayaking, trampolining, singing and Tim Tam dominoes. We are extremely proud of all of the children who performed. We had 24 spectacular acts to wow our judges. Tensions and anticipation rose as the top 3 in the infants and primary were announced. Congratulations must go to:

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff, especially Ms Mutwicka who helped make this such a success.

Congratulations to these students who created a Thrive Video as part of a SCS competition

We are still waiting to hear back from Sydney Catholic Schools regarding the Thrive Film Festival winners. As soon as we know more, we will inform you.

Return to School

As you are preparing your children for their return to school, I know that some of you will notice that they may be experiencing a mixture of emotions or uncertainty about coming back to school. These emotions may not present between now and when it is their turn to return to school, they may appear after a couple of days or weeks at school. The teachers will be monitoring your children closely to ensure that they are coping with the change in their routine.

All students returning to school in Term 4 are to wear Full Summer Uniform

To prepare for our exciting return to school we are working hard to make sure school is safe for the children and staff. To assist us with our planning for the return to school we would like all parents to complete this survey.

Morning Before School Supervision – students dropped off at or after 8:40 please

In addition, we will be arranging before school playground supervision in a more limited way and, in essence, ask parents/carers to “drop” children off at school at, or after, 8:40am so they proceed directly into their class and therefore limit interactions with other classes on the playground. Students are required to be at school and start lessons at 8:50am, thank you.

Dismissal

Parents and carers must follow advice regarding student drop-off and pick-up. This includes staying in the car when dropping off and picking up children if it is safe to do so. Dismissal times are as follows:

  • 2:55pm Siblings
  • 3:00pm Infants
  • 3:05pm Primary

End of Year Reports

Our end of year Student Progress Reports will not contain A-E rankings across all subjects. Student progress will be reported in narrative form, with comments focusing on the core subjects English, Mathematics and Religious Education. Teachers will also assess your child’s response to remote learning tasks. This adjusted Student Progress Report has been approved by the NSW governing body, NESA (The NSW Education Standards Authority).
