Principal’s Message

Mr Nick Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Term 4 is well and truly moving full steam ahead as we enter Week 3! The return to school for all our students has been very smooth as we transition back into face to face learning. Over the next couple of weeks, classes will complete some end of year assessments to help us identify the next steps in learning. This will include the annual PAT assessments in reading and maths next week on Tuesday and Wednesday. There is no preparation needed for these assessments at home.

At the end of last term, I mentioned in the newsletter the outstanding NAPLAN results for our students in Year 3 and Year 5. These results illustrated positive growth in our targeted approach in literacy and numeracy, specifically in the areas of reading, writing and numeracy. In today's newsletter you will find an article from the Catholic Schools Office illustrating the system-wide success in the 2021 assessments.

Next Wednesday 27 October, we are raising funds for Catholic Missions by holding a Crazy Sock Day. Students are invited to wear a pair of colourful, creative, odd or wacky pair of socks for a gold coin donation with their normal sports uniform.

This Wednesday is the closing date to accept parental responses for the school satisfaction survey. A link to the survey can be found here and all responses are confidential. These survey results help us in designing future improvement processes and are invaluable to school planning.

As we look forward to 2022, class structures are being finalised over the next couple of weeks. If you know of anyone that might be interested in enrolling their child at Sacred Heart, please encourage them to contact the office to obtain an enrolment pack. On the other hand, if you know your child will not be enrolled at Sacred Heart in 2022, please contact us to help us make informed decisions in terms of class structures.

Special mention to Amelia Kleinschafer (Transition) who celebated her 5th birthday yesterday, Kale Dickens who turns 8 today and Miss Langfield who celebrates her birthday on Friday. We hope you have an amazing day!

Have a great week!

Nick
