SPOTLIGHT ON: SunSmart

With some beautiful sunny weather that we have finally been having it is a timely reminder to be Sun Smart.

For the best protection during the day use all five Sun Smart steps:

1. SLIP on cool, covering clothing. Please choose clothing that covers as much skin as possible e.g. tops with collars, and sleeves of at least three-quarter to full-length, pants or skirts of at least three-quarter to full length. Singlets or shoe string tops / dresses are not ppropriate.

2. SLOP on SPF 30 (or higher) sunscreen. Make sure it’s broad-spectrum and water-resistant. Apply a generous amount and reapply it every two hours. Please apply prior to coming to kinder and we will apply every two hours thereafter.

 3. SLAP on a hat that protects the face, neck and ears. Choose a wide-brimmed, legionnaire or bucket hat. Peak caps and visors do not offer enough UV protection so leave those ones at home!

4. SEEK shade Choose shady spots for play whenever possible.

5. SLIDE on wrap-around AS1067 sunglasses - when appropriate and practical, help protect the eyes with sunglasses.

Kindergarten News

It is an exciting week for all as lock down lifts and children begin returning to on site education!

It will be wonderful to see everyone's smiling faces, but we are deeply aware that coming back after such a long period can be daunting for some children. We are implementing strategies that allow each child to re-engage with the program, their peers and develop that strong sense of security that we continuously strive for.

As we do return, you can support your child and the Kindergarten staff in the following ways:

  • Jackets/ Jumpers- if the weather is cool, please send your child in or with a jacket or jumper. We will be opening our windows and maximising airflow at all times.
  • Being on time: It is crucial that families drop and pick up their child on time, not just for COVID, but most importantly for the wellbeing of each child. As part of the DET Covid requirements, we need to create a Kindergarten bubble, and as such we won't be using the main doors to the school. IF you are late, you will need to call the main office and wait at the door that we use to collect and dismiss the classes.
