Selamat siang!
We are so excited to be back with our classes tomorrow! All 3/4 students will attend on-site learning on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Monday and Thursday will be Remote Learning as usual, however the small group timetables will be adjusted to accommodate the changes. Classroom teachers will communicate their class’ small group schedule through their morning Zoom on Monday. It might be a good idea to discuss how students are feeling about coming back to school to prepare them for the change in routine. A few housekeeping notes for next week:
- All 3/4 students must wear face masks indoors
- Students enter and exit school via the gate next to the senior playground, unless organised otherwise due to siblings in other learning centres
- 3/4M & 3/4R enter and exit classroom through door in courtyard
- 3/4G & 3/4D enter classroom through door near senior playground
- 3/4O & 3/4K enter in individual classroom doors
- Students must charge their iPads in preparation for on site days
- Friday will continue as a specialist day with a choice board of activities. Feedback from specialists will be given face to face rather than through Seesaw
- 9am Zooms will continue on days of remote learning
During Literacy sessions last week, students continued to practise their note taking skills after reading or listening to texts. They also created a brainstorm of ideas about ‘An Activity Everyone Should Try’, in preparation for our public speaking presentations. We will build on these activities as we continue to research information and construct convincing arguments at school this week. It would be great to chat about these topics at home to assist students in developing their ideas and selecting their most convincing reasons.
We began looking at time last week, practising reading clocks, calculating elapsed time and making timetables. Telling the time or calculating duration of events is a skill that can be easily worked on at home. We encourage you to continue reading and talking about time as much as possible! This week we move into looking at measuring mass and angles in the world around us.
Upon our return to school, we will continue to build on the knowledge discussed in our STEM, Guided Inquiry and First Nations units. During these sessions, students will also be focusing on collaboration and teamwork with their peers. We are sensitive to the fact that social skills, connectedness and wellbeing have all been impacted greatly over the lockdown period. Supporting students to feel comfortable, successful and challenged are high priorities as we return to the classroom. If there is anything in particular that you would like your child’s teacher to know, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We hope you have a wonderful week,
Mr Dix, Miss Gasowski, Mrs McCoy, Miss Molloy, Mr O’Connor and Miss Richardson :)
