Principal's Message

Term 4 Week 4

Welcome back to our 3/4 students.

It was the best week ever! To welcome our Foundation, 1/2 and 5/6 students back to school although part time was wonderful.

Outdoor learning
Outdoor learning

This week we have our 3/4 students and everyone is looking forward to seeing them on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Next week ALL students will be back onsite from Wednesday 3rd November. Don't forget our Curriculum Day - Pupil Free Day this Monday 1st November.

Staff will be participating in Professional Learning around student wellbeing strategies and assessment.

We understand that getting back to our normal program is important and so we have decided to continue with the booked Curriculum Day rather than reschedule later in the term, where it would have a bigger impact to our teaching and learning. When we are all back Wednesday the focus will be on student wellbeing and our Literacy and Numeracy programs. Already you would be aware of assessments that are being conducted across the school to inform teachers of where students are at. Assessment needs to occur regularly so that we know exactly what each student needs to learn.

Notifying the school of positive case of COVID19:

A reminder that if you, your child, or a family member develops symptoms of COVID-19, you should get tested at a COVID-19 testing facility and stay home. Each family should regularly check the list of public exposure sites in Victoria, and if anyone in the family has attended a site at the times listed, follow the instructions given. If your child or a family member tests positive to COVID-19 you must contact the school immediately via phone 98781730 and/or outside office hours via the school email address at mt.pleasant.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

Class Placement for 2022

Teachers put a great deal of thought into class placement for all students. The aim is to create balanced classes and take into consideration individual needs, as well as friendship options, to allow for the best possible outcomes for all students.

Every student will be asked for friendship preferences and every effort is made to give them at least one friend from their list. Apart from friendship groups teachers will take into consideration the behaviour, academic achievement levels, gender balance and social and emotional needs of students. If you have a request to be taken into consideration for your child to support their education then please submit this in writingby emailing me at the school email address mt.pleasant.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au to by Friday  November 12th as teachers will then commence creating classes.

Moving House

If you child will not be attending Mount Pleasant Road in 2022 (other than current Year 6 students) please notify the school in writing and include the name of the new school if know. This helps us to organise a smooth transition for your child and assists us greatly with class planning.

Foundation 2022

Our Orientation program has commenced with live Zoom sessions. Session One was story time with the reading of the Green Sheep. Students will share their creations in tomorrows Zoom with the Foundation teachers.

Families were sent a general welcome from myself and this week Andrew Shaw has recorded a presentation on how we teach literacy skills at MPRPS.
