Transitions

Whether your child has been attending onsite, has been learning from home or has had periods of both, their kinder experience this year and last has been very different to anything we have ever seen.

As we return to face to face learning in Term four we look ahead to the impacts that less onsite attendance will have on children as they transition to either four year old kinder or prep.

We know that families and children will have had a range of experiences and reactions to the limitations restrictions have imposed. For some families maybe there have been positives in terms of family connection and a greater work life balance. Perhaps this has led to a greater sense of wellbeing and cohesion as a family unit.

For others this period has impacted on finances, mental health and wellbeing and broader family connections. Children will have had a range of reactions to all of this, we are really pleased that we will now be able to support children to return to a sense of normality and to enjoy the last few weeks of kindergarten together.

It is important to note that even if children have been offsite since term two, they have still continued to learn in rich and meaningful ways through their everyday experiences in the context of their home and family. It is natural too that both children and families will be feeling a range of emotions about transition, especially to school.

Please be assured that both kinder and school are well prepared to support children at this time and we look forward to working with you at this exciting stage of your child's early education.
