From Principal Steve | Remote Learning  Feedback | Classroom Furniture

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to thank you for your continued support, understanding and flexibility with the extension of the lockdown and remote learning this past week.

Thank you to those parents who completed the parent survey on remote learning.  We were really pleased to see the high levels of satisfaction and appreciation amongst our families. A significant number of parents have commented on how much they appreciated the grade level check ins, mini lessons and small group sessions. One parent commented: ‘The instructions have been clear and easy to understand. The Webex morning check in meeting has been helpful for kickstarting the day, including the small group meetings’.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank our staff for their outstanding planning, communication, collaboration and most importantly, the continuous focus on students and their learning.

You may be aware that we have made significant facilities improvements over the last 12 months.  These have included:

  • New classroom library shelvingbox boxesclassroom library books & take-home books | $106, 727.00
  • Decodable readers for Prep, grade 1 & grade 2 students | Over $25,000.00
  • New acoustic paneling in the Junior Building classrooms & hall | $21,391.00
  • Internal painting in the Junior & Senior Buildings plus classrooms 17-20 | $176,955.00
  • Slate & galvanised roof repairs & skylight repairs on the Junior & Senior Buildings | $54,215.00

We are continuing that investment with our School Council setting aside nearly $400,000.00 to improve our classroom learning spaces with new furniture and classroom libraries.  The new classroom furniture will be delivered over the July school holidays.   Further detail on this is available in my recent Compass Newsfeed this week.

Thank you to our School Council for recognising the need to support these improvements in the best interest of students and their learning.

As we near the end of the extended lockdown,  I ask that you please read the Health Centre News in this issue for important guidelines on the safe return to school for all and also note that there will be no assembly tomorrow.  We are grateful for your support with remote learning and we are so looking forward to welcoming all our students back to on-site learning on Friday 11th June.

With best wishes,

Steve
