School Council

Karen Jansen - School Council President

Last Monday your school council came together over Webex for our June meeting. For those of you unsure what goes on at a council meeting most of our evening is focused on updates from our sub-committees on finance, school policies, buildings and grounds and community building as well as the PFA, Wellbeing Officer, SRC and of course Kylie’s principal’s report. These give us an overview of what’s happening around the school and we discuss ideas, issues or decisions where necessary.

This month much of our discussion was around the state budget funding announcement and the first stage planning report Kylie is working on. We discussed the recent parent survey regarding the funding and got a look at how Kylie is taking the feedback from the community and starting to shape it into a clear vision for our future. This would not be possible without your participation, so on behalf of the school council, I would like to thank everyone in the community for being so open and willing to talk to us. It felt like you had really thought about what our wonderful school needs now and into the future to deliver the best educational outcomes for our students in a welcoming, inclusive and comfortable environment. Great work everyone!

This process is just beginning but rest assured we will keep you all well informed over the coming months of how this exciting project is shaping up….stay tuned!

As a final thought for this month, it would be wonderful if you could spread the word that Nokuna is the ‘go to’ place to stay informed on everything going on at Weeden Heights and help make sure our whole community is reading Nokuna to keep up with the latest news at our wonderful school.

Have a great school holiday break everyone!
