VCAL Job Camp

This week wrapped up the final session of VCAL’s first ever ‘Job Camp.’ Over two weeks students who have demonstrated leadership skills, a commitment to their studies and the desire to work in either the hospitality or retail industries, have had the chance to undergo training from industry professionals. A number of Year 11 and 12 students had the opportunity to gain skills and certificates in café service, barista training, food handling and the responsible service of alcohol. They also participated in workshops related to interview skills and resume development. Our students embraced the opportunity to learn new skills and further develop their interpersonal and work related skills. In a twenty first century work environment in which young people will change careers many times in their lives, the attainment of new skills and training in diverse areas will be beneficial for their futures. We also look forward to these students sharing their barista and coffee making skills by participating in our VCAL Coffee Hub which will be coming to Epping Secondary College very soon!!
