Lake Albert and Wollundry Lagoon Field Studies

Currently, Year 11 Biology classes are involved in their Depth Study assessment task. The focus of this task is to perform measurements of abiotic factors, such as, water quality tests and soil tests and measurements of biotic factors, such as quadrats, transects and food chains. They will use gathered data and research to assess the importance and health of and human impact on the ecosystems.

This is a great opportunity for students to apply their learning in the classroom to real world experiences. As a result of the experience they are now much better informed about the complexities of their local ecosystem and why biodiversity needs to be protected.

We hope that we have motivated some students to consider careers in ecology!
