You will see them in the Library most lunchtimes and if you need any assitance borrowing or locating items then don't hesitate to ask.

Manga in May

Come in and check out our 'Manga in May' display of artwork and book series.  We have a selection of titles including Naruto, Bleach House, Sherlock Bones, Fruits Bat, Avalon High and new titles Vampire Knight, Ninja Slayer, Yo-Kai Watch and Fairytail.

Artwork on display was created by our very talented Library Monitor Emily Jones and students from the 2017 Year 7 Steiner Class.

"Series...ly Good Reads"

Who doesn't love a good series and we have lots to choose from in our display...from Harry Potter to the Hunger Games and City of Bones to The Maze, as well as Andy Griffiths' Treehouse series and Caroline Wilkinson's Dragonkeeper series, John Flanagan's Brotherband and Ranger's Apprentice titles, plus lots, lots more to choose from.  Pop in to check out the titles on display and if you have suggestions for any new series titles then please let us know.

Why Read?

Did you know that Australia is 16th on the Indy 100 list of 'Which Countries  Read the Most" with the average  of 6 hours and 18 minutes per week per person in Australia.  India tops the list with an average of 10 hours and 42 minutes.  There is some fascinating reading in this article by  Lee Watanabe-Crocket (6 April 2018) "The 7 Interesting Ways That Reading Makes You Healthier"  which also has an infographic showing the '7 Ways Reading Makes you Healthier' such as by reducing stress levels, relaxing tense muscles, calming you down, and helping you to sleep.  Obviously what works for one may not work for others but the act of sitting quietly and becoming engrossed in a great read is a pleasure for many people.  If you need help finding your next healthy read then we have lots for you to choose from.

Ripple 2018

Ripple is our annual school magazine and all students have an opportunity to purchase their own copy - please contact the Admin Office if you have not already ordered your copy.

Ripple contains a summary of the year at MESC - photos and articles about school events (sports carnivals, year level photos, Year 12 quotes, IDEEA Lab, Year 10 Formal, year level camps, etc.).  It's a great memento for every student to have and look back at in future years.

We will be holding a competition to design the cover of this year's copy - look out for the posters and/or see Mrs Swannell (Librarian) for details. Previous issues from the past 42 years can also be viewed in the Library.

NOTE:  Students who ordered a 2017 copy can now collect it from the Library - if you are unsure about orders/payment then  please check with Admin Office - we apologise for the late delivery.
