Skills take students to the next level

Year 8

Year 8 students are out and about and achieving wonderful things!

 

Brooklyn Nguyen

In August this year, Brooklyn competed in the Australian Nationals 2016 Rubik’s Cube Championship at Turramurra High School. He entered into the 2x2 cube competition and finished 64th out of 164 competitors with a time of ……. To solve the cube. He also entered the 3x3 rubik’s cube competition and finished 113th place out of 194 competitors.

Emily Fraser

Emily competed in the NAS karate tournament held at ANZ stadium Homebush this Year.  Emily competed and achieved 3rd place and was  was invited back earlier this term to compete in the NAS State Championships also held at ANZ stadium Homebush. Emily excelled in this competition and after a few fights won First place. 

Emily now has been invited to travel to Melbourne towards the end of November to compete in the NAS Australian Championships. We wish Emily luck in this competition.

 

Scott Hoang

Later this month, Scott will perform ‘Venetian Gondola Song by Felix Mendelssoh at the Opera House for his level 6 graduation. This is not the first time for Scott to perform at the Opera House. He was recently awarded a medal for completing the recording of his Level 6 song, “Sonata in C Major” by A. Mozart.

You can see Scott in action at the Cecil Hills High School Spring Fair on Friday 2nd December, when he will perform, Ballade Pour Adeline by Richard Clayderman.

Sonia, Scott’s sister in Year 7 will also play at the Sydney Opera House performing a composition of music called Woodland Sketch by Miriam Hyde. This is her level 5 graduation. We wish both Sonia and Scott luck with their peformances.

 

These are such wonderful achievements from these students. We wish them luck in the future and cannot wait to hear more about all the amazing successes that are yet to come. We are very proud of you. Focus and determination is the key.
