On 31 May 2019, the Nossal Junior Chess team vied in the Casey Chess tournament. With utmost esteem, Nossal Junior team came first on the leaderboard, drawing with Haileybury. This echelon rendered our eminence greater. Our players were; Aditya Gautam Bhasker, the paradigm of wisdom in chess; Jireh Yi Loh, the sedate individual; Jack Silke, the admirer of all chess pieces; Joel Koay, the very composed one; Sayam Mehta, the quintessence of proficiency; and Ze En Lim, the epitome of complexity. Although we all were adepts, Jireh Yi Loh and Aditya Gautam Bhasker, who had competed for the first time in Chess tournaments, displayed outstanding performance and lifted Bobby’s expectations towards our competence. With considerable prestige, we are all excited to prepare for the State Chess Tournament.

The Nossal Senior Chess team also competed at the Casey tournament on 31 May. While our Junior team played at the Middle Years division, the Senior team competed in the Open Secondary division. Overall, the day was a complete success, with both teams winning their divisions. In the 7 rounds of the tournament, Akshayan Manivannan, Nicholas Illic and John Wang were our top players in the senior team (with 6 wins out of 7). The rest of the team was Josiah Schuller (5 out of 7), Ashali Haputhanthri (3 out of 7) and Krishnan Gounder (2 out of 7). Our team are very motivated by this victory and are excited for the State Finals in September!
