Welcome to Our New Staff Members

NPS would like to welcome our newest staff members:

Nick Barclay to the Grade 5/6 Team.

Nick will be joining the 5/6 team as Olivia embarks on her travel adventures.

Hi, I am Nick. I have been working as a Primary school teacher both in Queensland and Victoria since 2015. I have a background in theatre and performance and I worked as an actor when I was younger. I enjoy hiking and camping, as well as playing guitar and boardgames. If you see me around the school come and say hi.

Gaynor Martyn to the Italian Team.

Buongiorno!

My name is Gaynor; the new teacher of Italian (year 1 /2 and 3 /4) at Northcote PS.

I have over forty years teaching experience in all levels and programs of Primary school with experience in Italian school programs all over Melbourne.   An extensive network of Italian colleagues keeps me informed of the latest language teaching innovations.

I’m thrilled to be part of the school’s staff and look forward to working with all your

children. Rosa and I have collaborated to design some great learning activities.

Growing up in Rosanna with Italian neighbours kindled my love of all things Italian.

I currently live in North Fitzroy so I can walk to school and stop for a ‘caffe’ on the way.

My approach to teaching focuses on having fun while learning the language and culture of

Italy.  In my classes I use games, activities and songs to help your children develop

conversational Italian and knowledge of Italian culture. This will also develop their overall Literacy, strengthening literacy-related capabilities that are transferrable across learning areas.

I am looking forward to a year of cultural enrichment through language with lots of fun.

If you see me, please say “ciao”.

Saluti

Gaynor Martyn
