Important Notices

Parent Teacher Interviews

Next week (week commencing 20th February), we will be running Parent Teacher Interviews for students in Years 1-6.

Following the information sessions (which are designed for us to let you know key information), these interviews are an important chance to meet individually with your child’s 2023 classroom teacher to pass on any important information, discuss their start to the school year and their current learning goals.

We are asking that all families of students from years 1-6 schedule an interview time. Bookings can be made via the Compass app or web browser.

Details on how to make a booking can be found at https://www.compass.education/guide#section-09

Online bookings will close at 9pm this (Sunday 19th February). Please book your interview time by this point.

We ask that you try your best to attend these sessions to help us build a strong partnership between school and home - something that is essential for children to achieve their best.

A reminder that our teachers are always available for short chats at the start and end of the school day and are contactable via email.

NAPLAN 2023

On Monday this week, parents of students in Years 3 and 5 received detailed information about the upcoming NAPLAN tests.

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a national literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3 and 5 sit each year. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy.

2023 NAPLAN tests will take place at school between Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 23rd March.

Teachers will be preparing students for the NAPLAN tests by looking at previous questions and discussing effective problem solving strategies as a part of their everyday work in the classroom. Prior to the test dates, students will have a chance to work through past papers to get a good idea of the format and experience of sitting NAPLAN tests in order to help them approach the test sessions with confidence.

Whilst we aim to prepare students to do their best on the tests, we do not believe in ‘teaching to the test’ - putting unnecessary pressure on students to perform and raising anxiety levels.

For more information about the tests and to access some practice and example questions, visit nap.edu.au/onlineassessment/public-demonstration-site.

If any parents have any questions about NAPLAN testing, we encourage them to contact their child's teacher or Matt Cook at matthew.cook@education.vic.gov.au

SKiPPS Orchestra

SKiPPS Orchestra is BACK - Monday mornings, starting 13/2 at 8 o’clock in the Performing Arts Room.

The SKiPPS Orchestra caters for beginners through to advanced students and will take them on a musical journey from classical to contemporary. Newcomers are welcome and no musical experience is required.

Can’t play an instrument? We’ll find one for you. Can play an instrument? Bring it along and we’ll find a part for you. Playing in an orchestra involves learning about music notation, understanding rhythm and performing as a team - a great opportunity!

Come along for a try-out: no appointment required! Just turn up.

Voluntary donations are welcome for the orchestra to help cover the costs of our excellent conductor.

Contact Simon Chatfield on 0411 441 966 or simechaty@hotmail.com for further information.
