From the Principal

A School Community that plays together stays together ........

The photograph on the head banner today is a reminder to us all, how important our parents are to the successful running of our school. During the pandemic, the most disappointing aspect was the loss of connection. We are trying to re-establish the relationships through whole school events and year level functions.

This good looking bunch of parents have been helping out at Interschool Sports and they are secretly very competitive....coming away with some great wins.  Our Friday sports competition would not happen without parents volunteering their valuable time.

A huge thank-you to the parents that assisted with the organisation and running of the Mother's Day Stall, and the Election BBQ happening on the 21st of May, at the Sports and Performance Centre.

Please look at all the fantastic opportunities happening right now for our students in the other sections of the newsletter, and Education Week activities are going to be a highlight. So dust off the costumes and be ready to celebrate with a spotlight on Literacy.

Learning Never Stops.....

Teaching Reading is Rocket Science

You may have been mistaken over the last few Mondays, and the holiday period thinking you had walked into a classroom of adult students.

We have gone back to school.

Ensuring we deliver an integrated, multisensory language arts program comprising of three areas: Spelling, Reading and Writing is a top priority at GRPS.

We are all committed to developing students who are deep thinkers and problem solvers who are skilled readers, critical listeners, and accomplished writers and spellers.

Our consultant, Charmaine, has heard all the excuses about homework not being completed, the dog eating our homework and had to reprimand those talking in class

(not Mrs Rouda of course)

We are on such an exciting journey.

Here’s a question to ponder

In the word, ridge……..what is the job of the ‘e’? ( no google allowed or the dictionary )

Exciting Events

We’re going on a bear hunt, we're going to catch a big one.

 Oh oh thick squelchy mud...

We can’t go over it

We can’t go under it

We will have to go through it

 ……hang on a minute!

The mud pit is gone and a carpet of green turf is finally here to greet us.

Thank-you again to Jo-Anne for assisting with her green thumb

Another wonderful improvement made possible by parent contributions and a very generous family donation.

Enjoy your weekend with your family and friends.
