TwistED Science Excursion

TwistED Science Excursion Highlights
The children had a fabulous time yesterday during the whole school excursion to TwistED Science in Moorabbin. They loved participating in the workshops and exploring the interactive displays. Thank you to Claudia Castro, Narelle Diamandis, Elaine Chan and Fran Byrne-Dimos for coming along and helping out on the day. Here are some highlights ...
P1/2KV
Hayley Feng - It was fun at TwistED Science.
Clare Pynadath - My favourite thing was the one where a picture was projected on the sand.
Cameron Rogers - My favourite thing was when you make lots of things with wood, and I made a chainsaw.
Rachael Parisella - My favourite thing was when you made cars and did a race with them.
Xavier Cheng - My favourite part was when we built the house out of wood with Cameron, Mila, Sebastian and Zac.
Kiarra D'Lima - My favourite thing was everything and also, I had fun at TwistED Science sooo much.
Zara Onans - My favourite part of TwistED Science was the one where you put the balls into the pipes and they get sucked up and go everywhere through the obstacle course.
Chloe Manchee - We had fun and all of us enjoyed it.
Mila Bayne - We had fun at TwistED Science and my favourite part was everything. One of them was the one where did shooting pompoms in the Green Lab.
Amalie Salmas-Sun - The coolest thing was when we pulled a rope and made a big ball go up and then colourful balls went shooting out of a funnel and went fell back in. It was fun bouncing up and down on a wheel and making the balls go up.
Sebastian Castro - I liked to play in the house that I made.
Ben Eddington - I made a rocket and it crashed on the floor, and then we had to get it back.
Ashlyn Manchee - We had fun. My best bit was the twirly spinny chairs.
Marcus Yau - I made bubbles.
Zac Jia - My favourite thing was when you pull the giant ball and let it go , the little balls jump out.

TwistED Science
Yesterday the whole school went on an excursion to TwistED Science Centre. There was a room where you could dance and when you jumped on a button, a sound played. I loved it!
There was also a room full of bubbles and Dom made a really BIG bubble. It was so cool! There was an area where there were lots of foam blocks and Thomas T built a fort and toppled it over when everyone was in it. That was so funny.
Then, it was time to go back to school. Everyone had lunch and got on the bus. I might have my 9th birthday there. That would be fun.

TwistED Science
3 things I learned:
I learned about friction and how friction is about the surface of the object. I learned about the north pole and south pole on a magnet and if the two north poles try to connect it wouldn't. If you only connect the south and north pole together it will only connect.
2 things I wonder:
How did the metal machine have sparks when the metal ball came close to it ?
How does your hair separate when you put your hands on the metal machine ?
1 thing I enjoyed the most:
I enjoyed the TwistED Science playground the best and how there was big bubbles to play with. I liked using soft foam blocks to throw around.
TwistED Science
I learned about magnetic fields and foshess.
I learned about and materials that are magnetic and non-magnetic.
I learned about friction. If you interline two books you can not pull them apart.
----------------------------------------------------
I wonder why the force of friction kept the book together?
I wonder if we had no gravity would magnetic fields still work?
----------------------------------------------------
The most fun thing was the station where if you took a photo and flipped it, it looks like you where on the roof.
Twisted Science
3 things I have learned
1. I learned about friction when Zahra and Casey did the book trick.
2. I learned that a magnet and paper clip can go through a hand. It was very cool.
3. I learned about static electricity when we used a machine called a Van de Graaff . Tom's hair went up and it was cool.
2 things I wonder
1. Why did Tom's hair go up when he had both of his hands on the Van de Graaff?
2. Why does a magnet stick on the stainless steel on the bottom of a candle?
1 thing that was extra fun
1. I thought the illusion where everything was upside down and when you took a photo and turned it around it would look like you will be the one upside down!
TwistED Science Excursion
3 things I learned:
1: I learned about static electricity. It was very intriguing.
2: I learned about friction. If you interline two books and tried to pull them apart, even if you are the strongest person you can’t pull them apart.
3: Maddy then showed us some more about friction. If you slide a match box on a smooth surface, it just slides down and if you put it on a rough surface it does not move because the friction stops it.
2 things I wonder:
1: I wonder why they called the Van de Graaff machine, Vinnie.
2: I wonder why when Casey took the metal ball, it made Tom and Elsie’s hair stand up.
1 thing that was extra fun!
Two words… the play zone!
Twisted Science Excursion
3 things that I learned:
I think that I did the rough/and smooth thingy to learn about friction.
The poppers went bang or pop because the balloon pushed air into them.
The push me, pull me activity used forces.
2 things that I wonder:
I wonder why Maddy or Casey took us to our lab for science?
I wonder what makes lightning?
1 thing I enjoyed:
1 thing that was extra fun about Twisted Science was the blue and green zone playroom. The games were fun.
