RECONCILIATION PARALITURGY – YEAR 4 Eucharist Candidates

Today the Year 3 and Year 4 participated in a paraliturgy with the children who are making their First Eucharist at Mass on Saturday evening having the opportunity to attend the Scarament of Reconciliation. We thank Father Dixon and all of the children who attended this morning and conducted themselves so beautifully.

It is with great excitment that the day of the First Eucharist is finally, almost here.  Saturday 4th June at 5.30pm at Saint Joseph's Church. The children have been working so hard to be prepared for the day and we are all so proud of their efforts.  This notice appears in this week's Parish Bulletin:

Annual St Vincent De Paul Blanket Appeal

Non-Perishable Food Collection

Many people in our community are suffering from the effects of poverty and hardship. We the children of Saint Joseph’s School intend to make a difference.

The Student Representative Council hopes to collect food for the people in need in honour of the Feast of the Sacred Heart.

We are asking each family to donate good quality non-perishable foods and toiletries, such as: long life milk, tinned tuna, tinned salmon, rice, pasta, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, or any foodstuffs that will keep for a while in a pantry setting.

(A collection basket will be set up in each classroom)

This food will then be taken to the Merri Outreach Support Service in High Street, Northcote by members of the SRC for distribution in the local area.

The students will also be collecting new blankets for the St Vincent De Paul Society. Some  blankets will be distributed through their ‘soup vans’ to the homeless and others to families in need.  Blankets may be taken to classrooms or left in the school office.

As a school community we are celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart with Mass on June 23rd where some of these donations will be used in the Offertory Procession– all  families are welcome to attend.

The Feast of the Sacred Heart celebrates God’s love of humanity and as such we hope to share in this love and compassion by giving  what we can to our local community.

Religious Education at Saint Joseph’s

We are a Catholic School that models Religious Education lessons around the teachings of the Gospel where we are all encouraged to be the best person that we can be. We promote curiosity and wonder when exploring themes of Social Justice and we approach this learning using an Inquiry method based on the Pedagogy of Encounter. We explore other religions in the context of the Christian faith and encourage tolerance and acceptance of all people and all religious denominations.
