PRINCIPAL'S NEWS

NEWSLETTER JUNE 2, 2022

Principal's Message...

Dear Parents,

Staff News...

Not often do I have such monumental news to announce, news that I know will effect each and every member of our community, however today is the day.

It is with much sadness that I announce that Carmel will be retiring at the end of this term. Carmel is the face and heart of our school community and will be hugely missed by EVERYONE.  Her contribution to the daily life at St Joseph's is immense, and the relationships she has with staff, students and parents is unprecedented and greatly valued by all.

When discussing with Carmel 'when and how' to best announce this she said to me "subject, verb, object, Mary - that's all!!!!".  However, there is so much to be said, and will be said, but for now I'll follow her advice.

Pre-Service Teachers

We welcome Julia, Amy, and Kate who will be joining us as they complete pre-service teaching rounds.  Julia is working with Kate in Junior K, Amy is working with Tess and Kate is working in the senior community with Lauren.

We also welcome Jacinta Murphy who will be joining us for the next three weeks.  Jacinta is completing her training as a Learning Support Officer.

We welcome you all to our team.

THANK YOU - Election Day

Thank you so much to all the parents who volunteered to 'man stalls' on Election Day.  To those who bought sausages and bread and cooked and served food, to manning the plant stall, the cake stall, and everything in between - including the huge working bee to prepare the grounds.  Days like this are a great opportunity to raise funds and to showcase our beautiful little school.  I thank you all for your contribution.

School Closure Day

Our next student free day will be held on Tuesday June 14, the day after the Queen's Birthday holiday.  On this day the staff will be working onsite and will be updating our First Aid qualifications.

Celebration of First Eucharist

This Saturday, June 4, nine of our grade three students will be receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist.  All families are welcome to join us for this at 5:30pm in the Church - for more information please see the 'Education in Faith' section of this newsletter.

School Photos

School photos will be taken next week on Wednesday, June 8.  Children are to wear their winter uniform with the school jumper (not the sports jacket) and black school shoes.  We ask that long hair, at or below shoulder length, is tied up and jewellery (other than studs or sleepers in pierced ears) is not worn.

A full description of the winter uniform is detailed in the 'uniform' section of this newsletter.

CSEF (Camps, Sports & Excursion Fund)

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) provides payments for eligible students to attend activities like:

  • school camps
  • school-organised sports programs
  • excursions and incursions etc.

To be eligible to apply you need to hold a current Concession Card. This payment is paid directly to the school to cover the cost of your child’s camp or excursions etc.

Application forms are available from the school office.  Forms need to be returned to school before the end of this term, 24th June.

A Day in May

Please see the 'Wellbeing' section of the newsletter for some wonderful pictures of our students (and staff - well done Ms Tess!!) who dressed-up as rock stars or dressed in yellow.  Thank you to the parents for taking the time to make costumes and also for the huge support of the 'A Day in May Cupcake Stall'.  Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
