Student Well-being

This term, Wellbeing lessons across the school have been planned based on our Corpus Christi School Beliefs and Rules and the positive behaviours we associate with each.  Each Learning Community has planned a sequence of lessons that target each belief and what they look like within our school.

Year 1/2 Community

This week, the Year 1/2 Community focused on the School Belief:

'We have the right to feel safe and be safe'

In Wellbeing we have been exploring what it means to fee be ‘safe’ and be 'safe' at school. Some things that make us feel safe are speaking politely to our classmates, using our manners, pushing in our chairs, walking and moving safely in the classroom and playing fairly on the yard.

We created posters demonstrating what to do or what not to do in order for our community to feel safe inside the classroom or outside on the yard.

'We have the right to learn'

We have also explored what our ‘right to learn’ means in the classroom. We think it means that everyone in the class is allowed to learn and shouldn’t be disrupted. We participated in role plays and discussed about how we can be respectful in these situations.

Better Buddies Program

Today our Year 5 and 6 students began  our Better Buddies program.

The aim of the program is to build the leadership skills required to be a ‘Better Buddy’ in preparation for next year, as well as build meaningful relationships with our local kindergarten.  Some of our Year 6 students missed out last year due to lockdowns interrupting our program so they are excited to also be able to take part this year.

We walked over to The Hive Early Learning Centre in Kingsville and met with Nerissa, Anh and of course the beautiful kindergarten children.

The children took part in a wonderful collaborative art activity where they painted to the speed of music! Similar to musical chairs, they painted to music then stopped and switched places when the music began again. It was amazing to see the masterpieces created by the children.

Our children then facilitated some free play activities in the yard. They raced on the track, played in the sand pit, played Hot Potato and even conducted a talent show! It was beautiful to see the leadership skills of our students shine when playing with the kinder children.

Thank you to Jemima, Samuel, Jennifer, Sophie, Harper and Hiep for the fantastic leadership skills displayed on our  visit!

We are so excited to continue our weekly visits throughout the remainder of the term.

A huge thank  you to Nerissa for giving us the opportunity to work with The Hive this term! We are so excited!
